A series of paintings with restructured fragments of painted surfaces.

I was trying to destabilise a form: the square, the grid – which we assume has right angles. I wanted to question that reality, that norm. When making things with conventional shapes they easily become invisible within our buildings and amongst our objects. I wanted to heighten the sense of the form by shifting it, so that it is seen: it becomes immediately visible, and takes on a presence of its own.

A theme that populates much of my work is the contradictory impulse to be invisible and visible at the same time, and what emerges is a kind of camouflage that both obscures and identifies.
