A faceted free-standing Catalan solid and three spheres (found objects), each painted with drawn lines and geometric forms. New work using familiar shapes and patinas, echoing the luminous Fiore del Cielo chandelier, the mirrored Stella della Foresta, and other suspended installations.
Strange things happen when drawing on a moon. Straight lines come around to meet themselves; square corners make triangles; normal geometry no longer makes much sense. Flatness doesn’t translate to roundness, instead two realities exist at once.
Like the hanging Unico Fluttuante Oggetto installations and sculptures that began in Italy more than twenty years ago, I continue to be drawn to stray round objects, which somehow spark my imagination with their openness to possibility. Like a blank page, the surface of a sphere seems to invite the mind to wander its surface, leaving trails of imagined pathways.
